Mandatory ESG reporting standards in Europe (SFDR and CSRD) aim to bring more organizations in line with the EU’s climate targets, by implementing its EU Taxonomy and sustainable finance roadmap. In the US, however, companies often still report under voluntary ESG frameworks and standards such as GRI, SASB and TCFD. California’s climate disclosure bills and the SEC’s pending climate disclosure rule could bring the US closer towards alignment with the EU.

As a US citizen residing in Berlin, Germany, with clients in both regions, I’m adept at analyzing how EU and US are influencing each other from a sustainable finance and policy perspective. I help organizations active in these markets to navigate the different regional expectations for disclosing their activities.
